If a child is four years old on or before 31st August, then he/she may start school in the September of the same year.

Reception Admissions

If you live in Birmingham, you should receive information from your local authority (Birmingham City Council, Directorate of Children, Young People and Families) via post about how to start your child at school in Reception for September. You should apply online or return your completed preference from to Birmingham LA School Admissions and Pupil Placements. Please visit: http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/online-admissions

The oversubscription criteria are as follows:

  • Looked after or previously looked after children
  • Siblings of current pupils who will still be on roll in September 2027
  • Children of permanent staff at Broadleaf Partnership Trust
  • Children who live nearest to the school by straight line measurement from the home address to a designated point on the school site

Distance

Distances are calculated on the basis of a straight-line measurement between the applicant’s home address and the school gate.
