Since we were placed on the Department for Education rebuild list, we have been working incredibly hard on developing and delivering our digital strategy.
We are now in, what feels like a very exciting stage and we are beginning to feel the benefits of the fund raising we have done in our 25 Challenge and the additional devices that the funds raised brought into school for us. You will have seen in previous newsletters how that money has been spent.
When the school joined The Broadleaf Partnership Trust in September, we immediately began to feel the benefits of collaborative working for our staff, training opportunities and access to expertise and support from the Central Team. One new and incredibly exciting development is, that the Trust have purchased 95 Chrome Books for New Oscott staff and pupils. The pupils in Year 6 have been allocated an individual device, which will give them access to a wide range of online learning tools.
Along with the funding of devices, we have welcomed Mrs Laura Burrows, Assistant Head Teacher from Town Junior School, to support the first session for the children and staff and share her knowledge and expertise. We will be working closely with other schools in the Trust who already use them with great success.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils, preparing them for their transition to secondary school where Chrome Book use is common from Year 7 upwards.
Parents of pupils in Year 6 are invited to a Parent Meeting on Tuesday 20th January at 6.00 p.m., where we will share with you more about how the devices work, how we are using them in school, answer your questions and talk through our plans for children bringing the devices home to enhance their learning.
This will be combined meeting with our annual SATs information evening. Directors from the Broadleaf Partnership Trust will also be at the meeting to hear how the roll out is progressing. We are hugely grateful to the Trust for this incredibly generous investment in our school and pupils.
